Career, Life, Balance. Denmark Offers Just That!
And even more:
a healthcare system with modern equipment
emphasis on work-life balance and flexible working hours
high quality of life, low crime rate and good transport connections
an open, inclusive society with a guarantee of equality and social welfare
a center for medical research and innovation
incentives for highly qualified specialists
opportunities to participate in the latest development projects and research
opportunities for family and long-term development
Other people’s experiences confirm this. One of those people is Brooke Black, an American who decided to relocate to Denmark and has shared her experiences with People.
What left the biggest impression on her was the aforementioned work-life balance:
“I’m in the middle of the three to four-week period in the summer that all Danish companies are encouraged to give to their employees a long summer vacation, and most truly shut off and go be with their families. I think we feel like three-day weekends are a luxury, but I feel like Danish workplaces are better at acknowledging that we’re human and there’s a balance to everything.”
As a side note, estimates are that an average workweek in Denmark has a total of 37 hours.
The reason for that could be that Danish people value efficiency and output more than the number of working hours. That’s at least what Maxime Robert, Principal Client Services Manager at a recruiting company, thinks.

When it comes to the experiences of our candidates — healthcare professionals who have relocated to Denmark with our support — one that stands out is that of a specialist in internal medicine and gastroenterology who is extremely satisfied with the differences in working conditions, specifically between Croatia and Denmark.
“I love Croatia, but the conditions here are immeasurably better, I dare say impressive. The number of patients is significantly lower, and the organization and primary health care are much better. I don’t have any administrative tasks, which is what I spent half my time doing in Croatia. The work of a gastroenterologist is greatly facilitated, and access to colonoscopy and gastroscopy is much better and more organized, unlike in our country.”
