Lower Language Criteria

Until now, healthcare workers needed to know the German language at a C1 level (confirmed by the Gothe, TELC, or ÖSD certificate) in order to obtain a work license, take FSP (Fachsprachprufung – medical German language exam), and get a job in Austria.

However, in July 2024, this language criteria has been lowered to the B2 level. So, you no longer have to be an advanced but rather an independent user of the German language. This still implies good verbal and written communication skills, but not at the previously required level.

Acceptable certificates remain unchanged.
