"To
Upgrade -or- not to Upgrade, there is no Question"
"Own the very best!"
Stock high-end audio gear still leaves
a lot to be desired.Even ultra high end models simply fail to
come close sonically to the same model which has been upgraded.

Why should I "Upgrade" the parts inside this expensive unit I just bought?
All stock audio and video components, even models made this year, lack the best capacitors, resistors, diodes, wiring, op-amps and other goodies and sound dull, flat, anemic, thin and boring. Manufacturers are out for profit. We would not be in business if we could not provide our customers with performance better then they could buy at any price. Stock models lack micro and macro dynamics, a jet black background, and high-resolution. Stock anything is a joke. Even the supposed "State of the Art" $10,000-$20,000 models we buy for our own use pale to average gear which we have upgraded for our customers. We put on demos monthly here for our customers to witness for themselves. There are no downsides to replacing the standard variety parts with the very best technology affords us. Unfortunately there is no manufacturer using top quality best-sounding parts. The only option is to upgrade, but even that can be tricky, you have to know exactly what parts work where and in which unit. One brand may have a circuit voiced too thick on the bottom and rolled on top, another manufacturer may be too thin sounding, etc. This is where our 25+ years of experience comes in for you.
Nearly any make or model is a good candidate for upgrading because it is far more cost effective then buying a brand new unit or even a more expensive used model. Buying and selling stock audio gear is akin to going sideways, trading one mediocre product for another. Once upgraded, most models outperform stock state of the art models as heard on the showroom floor.
Please take a few moments to read some of our testimonials. We have over 25 years of experience doing upgrades and modifications on nearly every brand produced over the last 40 years. We have tens of thousands of parts in our inventory, and know exactly which part sounds the very best in each location within your specific component. What we do and what we achieve are unique.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE ON VACCUM TUBE INSTALLATION REQUESTS
Sometimes a first-time customer will ask if we can install a vacuum tubed output stage. Sure we can.
We have. What we have found is that there is no need to rig up a tubed output stage once you have replaced the additional parts contained in a solid state circuit with the best parts available. The issue is, solid-state circuits are more complex then tubed circuits, so in stock form, the tubed version often sounds better. However, once both have been identically upgraded with the same brand and types of parts, the solid state circuit is much more musical, transparent, easy on the ears, more liquid and detailed, there is truly no comparison. Modern solid state op-amps and transistors perform to a more musically satisfying and pleasing level of performance only after the whole circuit and power supplies have been upgraded correctly. Noisy non-linear vacuum tubes cannot reproduce the frequency extremes to State of the Art levels. We have repeatedly proved that vacuum tubed equipped identical models sound worse then the solid state version. The solid state wins hands down in double blind A-B's. Listeners pick our upgraded solid state model as the one they like the sound of over the same model with tubes in it. Keep in mind that tubed modified units other rig up typically break down the road. We've seen a lot of that over the past few years. Tubes must be replaced periodically, and often much sooner then the modifier tells you because he is running the circuit at it's ragged edge too high into pure class A bias which burns the tubes out quickly, or his circuit design values are off a little, creating phase shift and a multitude of distortions, both even ordered and odd ordered harmonic distortions. The excessively high bias produces a flat and smooth midrange tone but the bass peters out rapidly and the high end is rolled off, giving a mushy, veiled, ill-defined presentation once you hear a properly upgraded solid state version.
Vacuum tubes, even the most expensive versions, are antiquated,
noisy, non-linear, inconsistent with temperature, and measure far
worse then transistors, in all ways. They are simply outdated. The
Upgrade Company banishes all of the sonic negatives of solid state:
No glare, no grain, no stridency, no irritation: Instead a highly lush, liquid,
airy, transparent, very musical and engaging experience emerges. Over and
over again on every disc.
Our work provides you with a full-bodied, clear, lively, non-forward, engaging,
powerful visceral presentation that leaves tubed and all stock units at any
price sounding much like a radio in comparison.
